Hi. I’m Gerry. At my core, I love to communicate visually.

I started out as a writer—studying Journalism in college and being raised in a family of writers. Recognizing that I cannot write that well (at least as well as my family or as well as I would want to), I turned to graphic designing to attract a little more attention to my words.

I found out that I am a decent-enough designer: able to design books, magazines, newsletters, brochures, print ads and other stuff tastefully. Although I’m not really a legit graphic designer, clients somehow trust me to get their message across because I know how to balance design with substance.

Because I do not have a formal education in fine arts, I usually would turn down projects that involve illustrations and artwork. I don’t have the talent and skills to do that. Fortunately, I knew photography would make up for this inability.

So I began to take photos and fell in love with it. And as I get more serious into photography, I also realized that my photos have the power to inform, to illustrate, to reminisce, to remember.

Photography is a reflection of who you are, what you see, and what your life is all about at the moment you press the shutter. It freezes that moment in time perfectly, and effortlessly. You know how you hear an old song on the radio, and it takes you back in time to a great memory, or a sad moment in your life? That’s what photography does for so many people, including me.

I love being able to translate the view in front of me into something that has beauty, a message and makes people want to spend time lingering over the shot, and wondering about the story behind the shot. Photography is now my medium, and conveys something that often words can’t describe.
