Who Still Hires Retouchers in Boudoir & Nude
Do Photographers Still Need Manual Retouchers in Boudoir, Nude & Lingerie? Or Has AI Taken Over?
I’ve accumulated a lot of retouched work in boudoir, nude, and lingerie styles, and I’m considering putting it together as a separate retouching portfolio. But before I invest time into it, I want to understand the real situation. Do photographers in these genres still need manual retouching, or has this field completely shifted to AI? I’d really appreciate hearing from people who work in these areas: would you hire a retoucher if you saw a clean, specialized portfolio in these genres are you overwhelmed with shooting and editing and have thought about outsourcing retouching or do you feel that AI now covers most of the workflow and manual retouching isn’t necessary anymore Any feedback is valuable. I’m trying to understand whether it makes sense to develop a dedicated portfolio or if the market has already changed. Mar 18 26 08:31 am Link Based on my experience, photographers in boudoir, nude, and lingerie photography still highly value skilled manual retouchers, particularly when their goal is to preserve natural skin texture, mood, lighting, and the overall artistic feel of an image.
While AI can certainly accelerate certain parts of the workflow, many photographers still prefer human retouchers for high-end work where subtlety, consistency, and artistic judgment are crucial. AI often struggles to maintain realism, texture, and the unique style of the photographer throughout an entire set of images. Having a strong, specialized portfolio remains a valuable asset, especially if it showcases tasteful, natural retouching rather than excessively processed results. Many photographers also seek reliable collaborators to help manage their editing workload, allowing them to spend more time shooting and engaging with clients. I believe there is still a market for quality manual retouching, particularly in premium and artistic photography niches. A dedicated portfolio could help you stand out and attract the right clients. I would be interested to hear how other photographers and retouchers perceive the current balance between AI and manual retouching. Jun 07 26 10:14 pm Link |
